Syracuse is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Syracuse is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Walked in to pick up takeout and immediately regretted not staying to eat. The inside looks incredible. Definitely a place you want to sit down at for a real date night. Got the Karivepaku chicken and the chilli paneer. Asked them to make it actual Indian spicy and they definitely delivered. Both dishes were really good and packed with flavor. My only small feedback is the cornstarch layer on the paneer was a bit too thick, which made it pretty chewy. Lightening up that coating just a little would make it perfect. When it comes to parking, it is mostly street parking and people just pull right up outside to grab their takeout like it is standard protocol. Just a heads up though, there is actually a parking lot for 10 to 15 cars right to the left of the restaurant if you want a proper spot Will definitely be back, but taking a table next time!

My Husband and I dined in here last night for the first time. He and I are creatures of habit so we tend to order the same things we know and love when trying a new place for the first time. We ordered butter naan, Chicken Makhini, Okra Masala and Palak Paneer. We have tried most of the local Indian restaurants at this point, and this place was wonderful. Downtown parking is a racket so give yourself some time to park. We both agreed that the Chicken Makhini and the Okra Masala at Dakshin edged out the other restaurants we have tried locally. The service was great but not intrusive, and the decor was beautiful inside. We would love to come back!

LOVELY PLACE ! The food is actually one of the best , most authentic Indian food I've had in New York. Definitely try the Gobi Manchurian and also the butter naan too !! The portion sizes are decent , but the food is too good to share , so order for yourself seperately. Thank me later for putting you on some good stuff 😌

After many recommendations, my friends and I decided to try one of the newer Indian restaurants in Syracuse, Dakshin. As someone who has a vast background in Indian cuisine, and has tried many Syracuse staples, I can proudly say Dakshin stands as one of the best by far. What made Dakshin unique was that it captivated us on all its flavors. Starting with apps we ordered the Gobi Manchurian and Chicken Lolipop. Both were incredibly crispy, and maintained a good juiciness that made for a great start. For mains we got the Tandoori Chicken, Tandoori Shrimp, Chicken Dum Biryani, Goat Chettinad, Chili Chicken, and the Garlic Naan. The Chicken Dum Biryani had a nice spicy and rich flavor along with the Tandoori Chicken which was perfectly marinated and grilled. The Chili Chicken, although on the sweeter side, still held its integrity with the other dishes. The only disappointing foods for the night were the Goat Chettinad and Tandoori Shrimp, both for different reasons. The Goat, while appetizing, lost points for its gaminess. The Tandoori Shrimp on the other hand didn’t capture the spice as well as the Tandoori Chicken did. Apart from that, everything was brilliant, along with the service
